Lions of Windsor & Maidenhead 2019

10th August – 27th October

On 10th August, a giant pride of lions transformed by some of the world’s leading contemporary artists and designers will be unveiled across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Queen Victoria and raise money for charity!

 

Follow the trail throughout Windsor and find the life-size fibreglass lions that have been transformed by leading artists and designers from locations around the world including Hong Kong, Paris, New York and Thailand. Their innovate designs range from fine art to mosaics, street art and illustrations to colourful abstract designs. Plus, view the colourful lions from school children across the Royal Borough within the sculpture trail.

 

The high-profile designers include:

Iconic fashion designer, Dame Zandra Rhodes Celebrated print designer, Kaffe Fassett MBE The descendants of French impressionist Camille Pissarro, Lélia and Lyora Pissarro Sculptor, Andrew Logan Alexander McQueen Anna Kompaniets Creative designer and artist Amrit Singh Ex Head of Studio Lacroix, Craig Wheatley Thai jeweller and member of the Thai Royal Family, M.L Rojanatorn Na Songkhla Burberry and Harrods designer, Lisa Stickley Liberty designer, Sally Kelly Contemporary urban artist Mister Mistry

‘LIONS ROAR GOODBYE' WEEKEND FESTIVAL - 9th and 10th November 2019

The ‘Lions Roar Goodbye’ festival will also take place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th November allowing lion fans, residents and visitors to say farewell to the decorated lion and cub sculptures and decide which they might like to bid on at the auction. 

 

CHARITY AUCTION - Thursday 21st November

On 21st  November the pride will be auctioned and 100% of event profits will be donated to charities including, the Thames Hospice, Look Good Feel Better, The Lions Club of Windsor and the wildlife charity, Tusk.
